Volkswagen India had unveiled the new variant of the Volkswagen Touareg at the 11th Auto Expo in New Delhi last month. There has been much speculation that the new Touareg will not make it to India soon. However Industry reports now confirm that the new Volkswagen Touareg will be launched in India this year. For the moment we have not recieved any official confirmation of the launch. These are hear says that are floating in the auto-industry. The new Volkswagen Touareg will come equipped with a 2967cc, 6-cylinder diesel mill which would be capable of churning out 236bhp at
4000rpm and a massive torque of 550Nm. Volkswagen will mate this engine to a 8 speed triptonic transmission. One of the noticeable features on the new Volkswagen Touareg is the front fascia has received some make over, especially the headlamps now show-off day time LED running lights. From the dimensional aspect the new Volkswagen Touareg is longer and wider when compared to the current Touareg that is available in the Indian market. Volkswagen has built the new Touareg on the new Porsche Cayenne platform. Front the safety front expect the new Volkswagen Touareg to come equipped with an array of safety technology you name it; BS, ESP, ASR, EDL, hill start assist, hill descent assist you are sure to get a feel of all these safety features in the new Touareg. Pricing will be a crucial factor; however we expect the New Volkswagen Touareg to enter India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) path, thus pricing should be steep somewhere in the range of Rs 55 lakhs.
